Social Impact Volunteer

We offer flexible volunteer opportunities tailored to accommodate diverse preferences, goals, and financial capacities. We recognize that every volunteer has unique circumstances, and therefore provide two flexible funding models to suit individual needs.

Partially Funded Program

For selected applicants demonstrating a strong commitment to volunteering and community impact, we offer partially funded opportunities. Through scholarships or support from partner organizations, accommodation during the program will be provided. Volunteers remain responsible for meals, personal expenses, including airfare to and from Indonesia, visa fees, scooter rental, insurance, and other incidental costs. This option is ideal for those seeking financial assistance while maintaining a high-quality volunteering experience.

Self-Funded Volunteering

For self-funded volunteers, we offer two formats, based on the preferred level of independence and support:

  • All-Inclusive Volunteering
This option provides a comprehensive package including accommodation, meals, and local transportation. The package is carefully designed based on local expertise and includes full coordination and staff support to ensure a seamless and enriching experience throughout your stay.

  • Self-Arranged Volunteering
This option grants volunteers the flexibility to arrange their own accommodation, meals, and transportation. A modest volunteer contribution is required to support the operations and management of Bale Nara Lombok’s programs. We do not retain any portion of this contribution for organizational profit. Volunteers are also encouraged to support the platform’s sustainability by making additional contributions or donations to ongoing campaigns, available at https://balenara.id/donate/. Volunteer durations and responsibilities are tailored to individual interests and availability to provide a personalized experience.

Please understand that paying the package fee does not lessen the importance of your time, effort, or commitment. Your contribution is essential to keep our programs running; without it, we could not sustain the volunteer opportunities. By paying, you cover your own needs and also help support the local economy. Your presence makes a positive difference in the lives of many people in underserved communities. Additionally, our package prices are often 50–70% cheaper than if you arranged everything yourself. This is because local service providers offer discounted rates as they appreciate your support, allowing you to contribute meaningfully without overspending.

Testimonials

What they Say?

I’m deeply grateful to have started as a social impact volunteer at Bale Nara Lombok and become one of its founders, responsible for SDG-17 (Partnership for the Goals). This journey inspires me and gives me a strong reason to keep returning to Lombok.

Kirstie Chalmers

Scotland

As a volunteer, I taught Community-Based Tourism at Bale Nara Lombok’s partner campus and conducted preliminary research for the Fair Tourism Foundation in the Netherlands. I’m deeply grateful for the support of so many helpful stakeholders during my time in Lombok.

Theresa Auer

Germany

I spent six months in Lombok supporting Bale Nara Lombok while on sabbatical. Coming from South Africa, a country so different from Lombok in terms of its warmth and safety, I was truly amazed. I’ve already decided to return to this island and make it my permanent home.
