About the program

This volunteer program strengthens intercultural education and environmental awareness in Bagek Kembar, a remote mangrove ecotourism village in Lombok. Volunteers serve as conversation partners, helping children and youth gain confidence in speaking new languages. Lessons are informal, nature-based, and rooted in mutual cultural sharing.

In addition to teaching, you’ll support beautification efforts around the school, painting murals, gardening your mini-cabin, and joining mangrove planting activities. It’s a creative, collaborative space where language learning becomes a tool for empowerment and sustainability.

Typical day

  • Early Morning (Optional): Join women for oyster foraging during low tide.
  • Morning: Assist in classroom conversation activities, interactive games, and storytelling.
  • Midday: Rest, relax, or garden around your mini-cabin.
