About the program

This volunteer opportunity is designed to provide high school-level students at an Islamic boarding school with critical digital literacy skills. Volunteers will assist in teaching basic computer use, Microsoft Office, Canva, video editing, and online communication tools. Your efforts will help students gain the confidence and skills needed to succeed in higher education and the modern workforce. By joining this program, you’ll contribute to closing the digital literacy gap and supporting sustainable educational development in Lombok.

Typical day

  • Morning: Prepare and conduct digital literacy classes, focusing on practical skills like typing, file management, and using Microsoft Office.
  • Midday: Share a traditional Indonesian lunch with local staff and students.
  • Afternoon: Facilitate hands-on activities, such as designing with Canva or editing videos, to enhance student engagement.
  • Evening: Participate in cultural exchanges, plan lessons, or explore the local community.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation from Lombok International Airport to the site. An orientation session will provide an overview of the teaching schedule, cultural norms, and community activities.

This program is available year-round, with a minimum commitment of two weeks. Custom schedules can be accommodated upon request.

  • Accommodation: Participants will be provided with shared or private accommodation during the program.
  • Meals: Three traditional meals per day will be provided throughout the program.
  • Teaching Materials & Support: Participants will receive all necessary teaching materials, along with assistance from local staff.
  • Flights and Transportation: Participants are responsible for the cost of flights to and from Lombok and personal transport outside of scheduled activities. They must also arrange their own transportation from Lombok International Airport to the site.
  • Travel Insurance: Participants must arrange and cover the cost of their own travel insurance.
  • Visa and Vaccination Fees: Any entry visa costs, documentation, and vaccination fees (if required) are the responsibility of the participants.
  • Personal Expenses: This includes costs for souvenirs, alcoholic beverages, optional activities, or any purchases outside of the scheduled program.
  • Accommodation: Extra lodging beyond the scheduled program dates is not included in the package.
  • Medical Expenses: Participants are responsible for any healthcare costs incurred during the program.
  • Recreation and Tours: Any costs related to recreation or tours during free time activities are not covered.
  • Lost or Damaged Equipment: Participants will bear the cost of replacing any lost or damaged equipment.
  • Scooter Rental: Rental fees for scooters are not included in the package.
