Bagek Kembar Mangrove Ecotourism in West Lombok offers a meaningful volunteer opportunity for individuals who are passionate about environmental conservation, digital media, and community-based tourism.

As a volunteer, you will help manage and update our website and create engaging, educational content for our social media platforms. Your contribution will support efforts to promote mangrove conservation, raise awareness among visitors, and strengthen the online presence of the local ecotourism initiative.

This program is ideal for those who want to apply their digital skills in a real-world setting, while also experiencing the beauty of Lombok and contributing to a sustainable cause.

Typical day

Morning Shift (8:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

  • Content Creation: Work on updating the Bagek Kembar website with new blog posts, event updates, or educational content.
  • Field Documentation: Capture photos or videos of the mangrove forest, community activities, or conservation efforts.
  • Community Collaboration: Meet with local staff or community members to gather stories, interviews, or insights for online content.

Midday (12:00 PM – 1:00 PM)

  • Lunch Break: Enjoy a meal and relax, or use the time to exchange ideas with fellow volunteers and local staff about eco-tourism and conservation.

Afternoon Shift (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM)

  • Social Media Management: Design and schedule posts for Instagram or Facebook, focusing on mangrove conservation and community-based tourism.
  • Monitoring & Engagement: Track website analytics and respond to online interactions.
  • Educational Writing: Draft short articles or infographics about sustainability, mangroves, or local culture.

Evening (Optional)

  • Team Reflection: Share progress, discuss challenges, and brainstorm content ideas with the group.
  • Free Time: Explore West Lombok, relax on the beach, or join community cultural activities.

Requirements

Volunteers are responsible for their transportation from Lombok International Airport to Bagek Kembar. Upon arrival, a comprehensive orientation will be provided, covering program objectives, mangrove conservation practices, digital content guidelines, safety protocols, and local customs. Volunteers will also receive a briefing on the region’s eco-tourism initiatives and conservation efforts, along with practical ways they can contribute effectively.

Year-round. Minimum stay: 1 week. Maximum stay: 8 weeks. (Extensions possible based on mutual agreement)

  • Accommodation: Private room in a quiet coastal setting, close to the school.
  • Meals: Daily meals are provided, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner; access to the kitchen for preparing additional meals.
  • Laundry: In-room laundry and a washing machine are available, with convenient service options.
  • Internet: Basic Wi-Fi connection for communication and lesson planning.
  • Certificate: Issued upon successful completion of the program, in recognition of your contribution to education and cultural exchange.
  • Drinks: Tea, coffee, or fresh coconut water are provided daily to refresh you.
  • Flights and Transportation: Volunteers cover their travel to Lombok and local transportation (including airport transfers and scooter rental)
  • Travel Insurance: Must be arranged by each volunteer
  • Visa and Vaccination Fees: All immigration and health-related costs are the participant’s responsibility
  • Personal Expenses: Includes souvenirs, snacks, and extra meals
  • Accommodation: Extra lodging outside scheduled program dates is not included
  • Medical Expenses: Volunteers must cover their own health costs
  • Recreation and Tours: Activities like surfing or scuba diving are not included but may be arranged independently
  • Lost or Damaged Equipment: Volunteers are liable for their own gear and any loaned materials
  • Scooter Rental: Available but not covered in the program fee
  • Incidental Expenses: Any unlisted costs or personal purchases
