This volunteer program is tailored for those passionate about marine conservation and digital content creation. Set in Lombok, home to rich marine life and coral reefs, you will manage Deep Blue Sea Dive’s website and social media, showcasing diving, coral planting, and eco-adventures.

Typical day

Morning (9 AM – 12 PM)

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging posts, reels, and stories for social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) showcasing our ocean adventures, marine life, and volunteer experiences.
  • Website Management: Update and maintain the website by uploading blog posts, event updates, and photo galleries to keep content fresh and engaging.
  • Guest Assistance: Accompany guests on ocean activities like diving, snorkeling, or coral reef planting. Capture footage for future content.

Midday (12 PM – 1 PM)

  • Lunch Break: Relax and enjoy lunch, either in your private room or with fellow volunteers.
  • Engage with Guests: Optional informal chat or cultural exchange with volunteers, staff, or guests.

Afternoon (1 PM – 4 PM)

  • Monitoring & Engagement: Respond to comments and messages on social media, interacting with the community and raising awareness about marine conservation.
  • Creative Collaboration: Brainstorm with team members on upcoming content or campaign ideas.
  • Additional Content Creation: Capture photos or short clips from guest activities, such as coral planting or diving trips, to be used for social media or blog updates.

Evening (Optional | 7 PM – 9 PM)

  • Content Review: Review and edit the day’s footage, preparing posts or stories for future publication.
  • Social Media Engagement: Respond to any additional messages or comments, ensuring the community remains engaged.
  • Optional Evening Activities: Participate in team bonding sessions or local conservation discussions if available.

Requirements

  • Must have a passion for marine conservation
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); proficiency in other languages a plus
  • Ages 18–35
  • Experience with social media content creation or website management
  • Basic knowledge of marine ecology or conservation principles
  • Must be respectful of local customs and marine conservation ethics
  • No criminal or terrorism-related record
  • Must not promote ideological or political views on social media
  • Travel insurance & valid passport required
  • Interview and portfolio review required before approval

Volunteers are responsible for their transportation from Lombok International Airport to the program location. Upon arrival, a comprehensive orientation will be provided, including an overview of the program’s goals, marine conservation ethics, website management, and content creation guidelines. You will also receive an introduction to local customs, community life, and sustainable tourism practices. Additionally, volunteers will be briefed on safety protocols, eco-friendly practices, and expectations regarding social media content.

Year-round. Minimum stay: 1 week. Maximum stay: 8 weeks. (Extensions possible based on mutual agreement)

  • Accommodation: Private room within walking distance of the dive center, offering a peaceful and comfortable stay.
  • Meals: Daily meals provided; access to the kitchen for preparing other meals.
  • Laundry: Available nearby at an affordable price, with convenient service options.
  • Internet: Basic Wi-Fi connection available for communication, content creation, and website management.
  • Certificate: Issued upon successful completion of the program, recognizing your contribution to marine conservation and digital outreach.
  • Drinks: Daily tea, coffee, or fresh coconut water provided to keep you refreshed.
  • Flights and Transportation: Volunteers cover their travel to Lombok and local transportation (including airport transfers and scooter rental)
  • Travel Insurance: Must be arranged by each volunteer
  • Visa and Vaccination Fees: All immigration and health-related costs are the participant’s responsibility
  • Personal Expenses: Includes souvenirs, snacks, and extra meals
  • Accommodation: Extra lodging outside scheduled program dates is not included
  • Medical Expenses: Volunteers must cover their own health costs
  • Recreation and Tours: Activities like surfing or scuba diving are not included but may be arranged independently
  • Lost or Damaged Equipment: Volunteers are liable for their own gear and any loaned materials
